Roman Road Christmas Fair

Our tree is up, the fairy lights are lit, and reception is piled high with bubble wrap and boxes. To cap it all off with a frosted icing, we’ve already had snow in Bow. You couldn’t ask for anything more festive than Attic Self Storage in Wick Lane right now.

Except, perhaps, for the Roman Road Christmas Fair.

It’s all happening this Saturday 16th December 2017 from 11am until 4pm at the Roman Road car park – E3 5NS to be precise – just a short slip, slide and sled ride from our East End HQ.

Santa’s glittering grotto

Centre stage will be the sparkliest tinsel-topped grotto in all of East London. And guess who’s playing ho-ho-host. Yes, the bearded mince pie-muncher himself will be dishing out free gifts to his army of adoring young fans.

With the help of local businesses Santa has even splashed out on some special star prizes ready to be won by a handful of lucky little uns. There might be a queue to see Mr. Claus, but there’ll be plenty to amuse the kids while they wait.

Elfies not selfies

A troop of Elves will be working overtime to encourage your children to look up from their electronic gadgets and get involved in some real life Christmas fun. Apart from pointy-earred entertainers, and a random reindeer or two, there’ll be festive face painting, craft activities and a sackful of fun to be had.

To make everything go with a swing the organisers are promising that choirs of angels (no doubt imported from ‘on-high’ at ludicrous expense) and local school children will ‘sing their hearts out for your pleasure’. Bless their little thermal socks.

Eat, drink and be cockney

Nom, nom, nom. All the festive favourites will be there for you and yours to over-indulge in: mulled wine, hot chocolate, marshmallows, mince pies and a delicious menu of seasonal street food. Why not fill your face and empty your wallet in a frenzy of Christmas consumption?

You could even round your afternoon off like a proper cockney with a plate of jellied eels and a cheeky pint in The Albert. Just leave the saucepans outside.

A wonderful winter market

Once again local makers and traders are hosting a ‘Festive Gifts & Goodies Market’ where you can bag some last minute stocking fillers. From ice cool jewellery and knitted decorations to naturally scented candles and tasty handmade sweets.

Pull on your ironic Xmas jumper and give yourself a lovely warm festive feeling inside by shopping locally and supporting small businesses, rather than giving all your cash to the big chain stores and online retail giants.

The real East Enders

This really is a local affair. Local businesses contribute gifts to Santa’s toy sack, local volunteers help set up the site, local community groups help put on the event. This is Bow’s big annual jolly – a proper East End knees-up-Mother-Brown-under-the-mistletoe-wiv-all-the-trimmings.

Attic Self Storage is proud to sponsor the Roman Road Christmas Fair for the third year running, as well as provide storage facilities for The Roman Road Trust and their event equipment. It’s all part of our year round commitment to serving our community, looking after local charities and having a positive impact on the streets of London.

If you do find yourself ‘darn The Roman’ this coming weekend you’re welcome to nip into Attic Self Storage in Bow for a mince pie, a cuppa Rosie and some seasonal storage advice.

However cold it is outside, there’s always a warm reception waiting for you.
