In case you didn’t get the e-mail, Christmas is just around the corner. Attic Self Storage will be open throughout the festive period if you’re looking for a magical storage experience.

But if you’re after yuletide shopping and seasonal entertainment, you might be better off heading to Hyde Park – Winter Wonderland opened at 5pm on Friday 17th November.

What started life as a humble market 10 years ago has grown into a fabulous Xmas-travaganza with ice skating, shows, Santa Land, over 100 different rides, street food stalls, bars and music.

Allow us to rip the wrapping off a few of the festive treats on offer:

The UK’s largest out door ice rink

Ice, ice, baby! A huge attraction set around Hyde Park’s bandstand. Open 10am – 10pm. Ideal for all ages and abilities, perfect for a romantic first date, or a great way to keep your kids amused for an hour (crashing into someone’s romantic first date). Live music provides a sound track while you skate. Or grab a mulled wine and watch from the safety of the spectator’s platform.

An icy deep sea adventure

Enter The Magical Ice Kingdom for an immersive walk-through experience – a spectacular frozen world of underwater gods, deep-sea creatures and mighty ice carvings. Discover a mermaid grotto, witness an octopus battle, take a seasonal selfie posing in Neptune’s grand throne. The temperature is set at a chilly -10°C, so dress up w-w-warm.

You shall go to the snow ball

Cinderella On Ice. A modern twist on the classic fairytale, where true love triumphs over ugly skating sisters via elegant choreography, state-of-the-art projection and special rain, fire and flying effects. The cast is comprised of 18 world-class skaters, so every performance promises to be a stunning display of high-speed throws, incredible lifts and daring jumps. 10 from all the judges.

Welcome to the Megadome

The Circus Megadome is the largest tented structure in the UK. It’s also heated and has comfy theatre-style seats, where you can enjoy popcorn, marshmallow-topped hot chocolate and jaw-dropping entertainment from two different circuses:

Cirque Berserk

A full-throttle evening of ludicrously dangerous stunts. This year’s show brings together daredevil acts from around the world. Trapeze artists, contortionists and death defying two-wheeled thrills. Witness a motorbike take to the high wire and marvel at the ‘Globe of Death’ with 5 motorcyclists in a cage.

Zippos Circus

This popular daytime performance is a Christmas treat for the whole family. Balancing acts, knockabout clowns, feats of super strength and incredible illusion. At approximately 45 minutes, it is the perfect length for little ones with a short attentio…oh, look over there mum!

The Giant Observation Wheel

A poke in the eye for the London Eye! Soar 60 metres above Hyde Park in a see-through sealed pod. Take in amazing views of London’s skyline during the day, or come after sunset for a bird’s eye view of the glittering lights below. With a Fast Track pass, you can skip the queues and enter via an exclusive entrance, like you’re Beyoncé.

The Sooty Christmas show

11am every day. Forget Paddington and Pooh. Join Sooty, Sweep, Soo and TV’s Richard Cadell as they stage their own variety show. With magic, music and mischief, it’s a festive giggle for younger kids and really immature parents.

Eat, Drink and be Merry

Bar Ice is cool. But don’t worry: you get a cloak and gloves to keep you warm. The whole place is carved out of ice in the style of a Greek temple with frozen columns and sculptures. Even the tables, chairs and glasses are made of ice. Delicious cocktails are served at the bar, which, yes, is also made of ice.

Bar Hütte is hot. Book a cosy private wooden Hütte for your group in the midst of a mini alpine-style village. Feast on stone-baked pizzas and chocolate calzone. Sink a few custom made drinks. Each hütte includes a karaoke (‘carol-oke’) machine so you can sing out of tune to a selection of Christmas classics. Sounds like a great place for the office party.

You can visit the grounds of Winter Wonderland for free, but if you want to get involved in any of the above events, book ahead to avoid tears and tantrums: http://hydeparkwinterwonderland.com
