Do you like car boots? What about car headlights, chrome bumpers, alloy wheels, exhaust manifolds and supercharged engines? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, we have a right treat in store for you this weekend. Or, to be more accurate, the treat is just down the road from our King’s Cross store.
Hemingway Design and the Vintage Festival team are back with the Classic Car Boot Sale in Lewis Cubitt Square, Stable Street, King’s Cross N1C this weekend. A mega Car Boot sale jam packed with just about anything you can fit in the back of a car. And if you know as much about packing as we do, you’ll know that’s an awful lot of stuff.
From 10am to 6pm on Saturday 9th September to Sunday 10th September this is a family friendly weekend of classic cars, London’s finest street food served from wagons, music, performances, street theatre and vintage shopping with a capital V. Fingers crossed it’s not wellington boot weather.
At the centre of the noise and excitement is a vintage vehicle display featuring over 70 rare hotrods, low-riders, muscle cars, customised vehicles, choppers, scooters and bikes. A sea of chrome, super shiny paint jobs and lovingly polished leather interiors. Pigeons and seagulls are definitely not welcome.
If highly tuned petrol engines don’t set your pulse revving, there’s something for lovers of Lycra, helmets and handlebars too. B Spoke. A brand new addition to the festivities this year celebrating the joy of life on two wheels. It’s the ultimate bike bazaar brought to you by a collection of urban cyclists, classic and vintage bicycle enthusiasts, custom-built bike builders, along with independent makers, designers and producers of delicious small-batch goods.
A car boot sale isn’t a car boot sale without trunk loads of goodies to haggle over. Best of Britannia is a pop up marketplace packed to the gills with a carefully curated selection of Britain’s best bargains. Dig your way through vintage fashion, jewellery, accessories, homewares, collectables and vinyl records. All brought to you by friendly traders operating from the boots of their vintage vehicles.
Apart from the roar of the crowd, or perhaps cars, there’s plenty to entertain your ears and eyes. The organisers are promising impromptu musical performances, roaming street theatre, live music and DJs spinning a vinyl-only selection of 40s to 80s classics.
So have a dance, have a drink, have a delicious outdoor dining experience. Forget polystyrene cups of tepid tea and bags of soggy chips. This is a weekend to indulge in some tantalising street food, freshly brewed coffee, hand-shaken cocktails and lovingly brewed craft beer, served – of course – from some of the finest boots in Britain. If you keep your eyes open you might even catch a few donuts.
Entry to Classic Car Boot Sale is £5 on the door and £4 if booked in advance. Visit the CCBS website for details.
Attic Self Storage’s shiny new King’s Cross branch is just around the corner on Caledonian Road, so should you find you don’t have enough room in your own car boot for all the goodies you’ve purchased, we will be only too happy to provide you with a safe and secure storage solution. We also offer a man with a van service if you’re thinking of moving home and you don’t think your customised Model T Ford is quite up to carrying your furniture and glassware.
Have a great weekend!
