Ever wondered what you could actually fit in a 200 sq ft storage unit? Here’s one answer we can now confirm from experience: an entire pub.
To celebrate the launch of our new Bermondsey store, we transformed one of our units into a fully functioning micro pub for one night only, complete with a working bar, seating, and a limited edition craft beer on tap. For a few glorious hours, it stood as one of London’s smallest pubs, just off the Bermondsey Beer Mile.
Pouring Pints in a 200 sq ft Storage Unit
Bermondsey knows its beer. The Beer Mile is one of London’s best-loved brewery trails, so when we opened our doors in the neighbourhood, a quiet ribbon-cutting was never going to cut it.
Instead, we kitted out a 200 sq ft unit with everything a good night out needs: a bar, pumps, seating, and plenty of atmosphere. It brought a slice of classic London pub culture to a setting nobody expected, and it made a point we’re quite fond of: a unit is what you make of it. Whether it is for a growing business, a house move or a new adventure, there’s space for every possibility.
Attic Ale, Brewed with Southwark Brewing Company
You can’t open a pub without a house beer. Enter Attic Ale, a specially branded craft beer we created with our neighbours at Southwark Brewing Company, served on tap all evening.
Southwark Brewing Company has been brewing on the Beer Mile since 2014, growing into the largest cask ale brewery on the trail and supplying pubs across London. Peter Jackson, who founded the brewery with Andy Nichol, put it best on the night: “Seeing a pub take shape inside a storage unit was a first for us, and creating Attic Ale alongside gave us an exciting way to showcase our beer in a completely different light.”
That’s what we loved most about the evening, two local businesses, a few doors apart, making something new for the neighbourhood together.
